Why am I Running?
"I’m running for the Abbotsford School Board because I believe every student deserves the opportunity to thrive — academically, socially, and emotionally. My career has been built on challenging outdated systems, advocating for fairness, and creating environments where people can succeed. I want to bring that same commitment to the students and families of Abbotsford."

My leadership journey — from advocating for workers to serving as President of a 14,000‑member union — has taught me how to push for meaningful change. I know how to navigate complex systems, build consensus, and stand firm when it matters. As a trustee, I will work to modernize policies and ensure our district is preparing students for the world they’re entering, not the world of decades past.

Working with diverse, multicultural teams has strengthened my ability to listen deeply, collaborate effectively, and advocate for people whose voices are often overlooked. I will bring that same approach to supporting students of all backgrounds, abilities, and identities.

As a university professor and educator, I’ve seen firsthand how education transforms lives. I believe our schools must empower students with the skills, confidence, and curiosity they need to succeed. I will champion strong literacy and numeracy foundations, equitable access to programs, and supports that help every learner reach their potential.

With experience as an IT professor and Microsoft trainer, I understand both the promise and the challenges of emerging technologies. Automation and AI are reshaping the world — our students must be ready. I will advocate for responsible, forward‑thinking technology integration in classrooms, digital literacy education, and safe, secure tech practices that protect students.

A Proven Record of Standing Up for People
From leading youth humanitarian teams overseas to advocating for marginalized communities here in the Fraser Valley, I’ve always believed in using my voice to support those who are silenced or ignored. Whether it’s supporting 2SLGBTQIA+ students, newcomers, or families facing barriers, I will continue to stand up for inclusion, dignity, and respect in our schools.

As someone who has overseen large budgets and defended member resources, I understand the importance of fiscal responsibility. I will ensure taxpayer dollars are used wisely, transparently, and in ways that directly benefit students.

Schools should spend less time navigating red tape and more time supporting students. I will work to streamline policies, improve communication, and strengthen accountability across the district.
