Graeme Hutchison
for Abbotsford School Trustee
About Me...

My upbringing in the United Kingdom, instilled in me the values of hard work, compassion, and a drive to make a difference. After earning my degree in Information Technology, I embarked on a transformative journey of volunteer work, where I spent five years this included spending a year in India and also involved extensive travels throughout Eastern Europe. These experiences not only broadened my horizons but also deepened my appreciation for diversity and community.
I worked as a University Professor in the UK teaching business and Information Technology before making the life-changing decision to emigrate to Canada with my family in 2000, seeking new opportunities and a new place to call home which would provide a better opportunity for our boys. Since then, I have dedicated myself to making a meaningful impact, both professionally and as an active member of the Abbotsford Community.
My career as a Microsoft Certified Trainer allowed me to implement banking systems across the globe, fostering multicultural collaboration and expanding my understanding of global issues. I recently retired and set up my own consulting business having been President of one of the largest Unions in BC.
In my spare time I referee soccer, most weekends you will find me officiating local adult games. Soccer has opened up so many connections and opportunities and I have also managed to forge numerous friendships within First Nations communities in their soccer tournaments specifically with the Semá:th, Sts'ailes and Seabird Island (sq'ewqel), where soccer brings their communities together.
Soccer not only allows me to keep fit and work on my conflict management skills, but it also gives me the opportunity to work with my son who is also a referee, however, I am proud that he has now progressed to a much higher level than I can commit to or even keep up with!
In my spare time I have worked as President of the Fraser Valley Labour Council, this allowed me to get involved with my local community and to support local charitable organizations and connect with other local unions, in the last couple of years the rise of anti-SOGI rhetoric has been alarming so I have worked with local school board trustees and politicians to support the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
I also had the honor of serving on the regional council of the United Way who distribute approximately 20mn dollars each year to various charities and non-profit organizations.
I am always looking for a new challenge, what greater opportunity can there be than serving the community as a school trustee. This October you have the opportunity to be part of the change, so please vote for Graeme Hutchison.
If you have questions about my vision or platform, please reach out to me.
