An Ally for those who have no voice

Updated: Jun 15

I have lived in Abbotsford in the Fraser Valley since I arrived in Canada in 2000, for me local civic politics was not that important then a few years ago that all changed. At my local Labour Council, I met Dan Coulter who had just been elected to the School Board in Chilliwack, he shared the stories of the miss-information that were taking place on the School Board as it related to the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and how he was pushing back against that rhetoric. Since that time, I have stood on numerous occasions as an ally at various events, including the rallies that have taken place in Abbotsford.

As a white cis-gender male, although it may be uncomfortable, I feel it is incumbent on me to show my support and stand as an ally, to correct miss-information and be a voice for those who have no voice.
